Many of you know that I started MakingComics.com a few years back with big dreams of it becoming the ultimate free making comics resource online. Then I started the Making Comics Podcast where I talked to a bunch of amazing talented artists and writers of comics. This was super fun and rewarding but the weight of creating and managing all the content got overwhelming when accompanied with finishing reMIND and keeping it on track.
I didn’t know what to do so I stopped.
Then I met Patrick Yurick when he invited me to be on a panel discussion and I saw his passion and drive for teaching people to make comics. He also had a great track record and loads of experience with non-profit companies. I approached him about taking over MakingComics.com several month back and the results have been astounding. Patrick has since put together an amazing team of passionate people (that keeps growing by the day) and behind the scenes they have been planning a massive site relaunch for January 1st. There will be regular podcasts, panel discussions, tutorials, articles, and even free online live classrooms to join and learn from. The vision for MakingComics.com has now dwarfed my original vision and I’m excited to see what happens after it launches in the new year. It’s hard to explain just how much they are doing but to help give you an idea, here is a quick preview discussion that we had last night talking about some of the things you can expect to see in January when the site relaunches.
Please, mark your calendars. January 1st, 2014, the new doors will open and I hope you are as excited as I am to see what cones from this.
