I just got back from Emerald City Comicon and it was a blast! I love that convention more than any other and I’m happy to say it was a huge success too. I broke my last record of books sold in one day. Before my highest record was 44 books sold in one day and this year I sold 64 books in one day! Amazing! I met many people who backed my Kickstarter campaign (most who were still patiently waiting to get their copies) and introduced reMIND to a ton of new potential fans. It was so good, I already bought my booth for 2014! I even gave a copy of the box set of reMIND to Mike Mignola and walked away like a complete idiot. I’m not sure if he wanted to have my giant heavy books but I didn’t know of a better way to show him my appreciation for how much his art has inspired me over the years. If you happen to read this, Mike, then feel free to give away my books if you don’t want to lug them around. (And sorry for forcing them upon you like that.)
Anyway, my next convention is WonderCon in Anaheim on March 29th-31st so come by and say hi if you are attending. I’ll have more box sets for sale as well as new shirts. :)

Poor Victuals looks so broken. I’m excited, though! The action is really picking up :3
Just thought I let you know that your comic is in the Mix March Madness of ComicMix:

Definately give this a shot Jason.
Little advertisement/link up in the chat box for this week’s comic and start sending the readers that way. reMind is a little down the list right now but not so much that you don’t have a chance if you make a note of it.
…Actually, I’d probably note it in a kickstarter update too, ‘cos that’ll notify all the backers there.
hahaha you harassed Mike too huh? I told him “thanks for the master class in chiaroscuro” and gave him one of my books.
I also am in awe of your superior customer acquisition skillz, I totally swiped your polite “Hi! Would you like to have a look at my graphic novel? *elevator pitch goes here*” schtick after seeing how much foot traffic you captured on Friday.

Swipe away! :) It seems like everyone will just walk past unless you ask them to look at something. It’s surprising how many people really want to buy a book but would never stop unless spoken to.
I hope the con went well for your guys too.
You know those annoying salespeople in shopping centres who approach you from their stands to pitch their product? Like it or not, those are the ones who get the most customers. Sure, a lot of people could comment that their put off by it and even turn away in annoyance despite interest, but overall… it works better to actively engage than passively respond.
Yeah, I was really surprised at how effective it was! Trying it is a good part of why I pretty much broke even on my half of the booth, despite being there for the first time in such a terrible location. I don’t think my friend broke even, but we’re both pretty happy with how we did – it was our first time at a big comic con, and we both learnt a ton.
Oh dear. Just spotted a mistake in the dialogue. tch tch.
That last line should read: “We’re going in full throttle”
XD
“we’re so cursed” Definitely one of my favorite lines. =) Glad to hear your con went well and congrats on the new selling record – looking forward to meeting you at Phoenix!
Likewise! Phoenix should be a fun time. See you there. :)
