Finally I get to announce something that I’ve been thinking about for a long time now. Better yet, why don’t you just go and see for yourself at:
Over the next few months I will be discontinuing my How-to articles on reMINDblog.com and eventually move them over to MakingComics.com in an attempt to make a vast resource site dedicated to making comics. reMINDblog.com will still continue as my blog for everything related to reMIND so don’t worry. The only difference is I won’t be posting long winded articles here anymore. Some people only want to see progress on reMIND and others want more articles about making comics. Some want both. Hopefully this change will help satisfy everyone and relieve some of the pressure of reMINblog.com.
My idea with the podcast is to pull in 3 or 4 artists for each episode to talk about what we are learning and experiencing while making our creator owned comics. Hopefully there will be a large variety of guests from around the world too. If you want to be a contributor to MakingComics.com then please email me at Jason@reMINDblog.com.
See you soon!

Oh no, it’s a Netflix and Qwikster repeat! Just kidding, I think it’s a great idea to have MakingComics.com a focus for that. Making it a sort of community place where people can really get involved is excellent as well. We creatives need places to gather and I’m looking forward to this!
Netflix and Qwikster repeat! HAHA. What I should do is move my comic to Making Comics and then put this podcast on reMINDblog. Then charge a price for each site with separate login. haha.
I’m glad you are into the idea so far!
Great idea! Looking forward to it.
What a fantastic idea! Your articles have been incredibly insightful and helpful. Looking forward to your episodes. :D
Man, that’s GREAT! Your articles on making comics are the sole reason that I learned how to colorize artwork and get it on the computer (in a somewhat good-looking state). I CANNOT WAIT! YOU ARE INSPIRATIONAL (=D!!
*cough, cough* (i’m a bit embarassed now)
Sounds like fun! I think you’ve grown past the point of teaching people using reMIND’s blog and into bigger territory. The separation is probably for the best, since you run the risk of watering down your GN’s content with too many how-to articles.
Looking forward to checking this out. The more resources out there, the better.
Man… I knew this was coming… :D It’s just a natural step to turn innovation into application – your pro-activity Jason continues to be an inspiration.
I’ve been listening to almost 10 minutes worth of the next generation of Scott McClouds talking about how comics work in the market, it’s like a whole new learning process altogether when it comes to decoding how comics work in different countries and how you can effectively market them to your audience in those countries discussed.
The real challenge I’ve been asking myself as comic artist/graphic novel readin’ hobbyist is this: Is there a comic style/format that works in both the American and European readership? That’s a tough cookie to answer since both readerships (as mentioned on the show) have two different perceptions of how comics work in the industry discussed.
My first encounter with European styled comics was Tintin and Asterix – at the age of maybe 6 in primary school… and I loved how each book had a full story from beginning to end – all standalone on it’s own but using the same characters, same setting and same theme… (as compared to the American styled comics – ha ha! I’ve learnt something new and rather amusing from the show – comics are like collecting stamps! That’s actually a good one! It’s a reality but it’s just ironic really… XXD)
Anyways Jason and Daniel (hi to Daniel btw! I’ve seen your stuff because of Jason’s blog mind you! XD) thank you for bringing yet another exciting way to discuss ‘comics’. This is brilliant and forward thinking, it’ll definitely help many who are stumbling with questions about how comics work in all parts of the world (I’m looking forward to your insight of how Korean comics work in future…).
It’s really awesome to see artists with a passion doing this, I’ve done podcasts myself and to see you guys do it with this kind of theme (that interests me a lot) is something that I’ve been looking for in a very long time.
I’ll be downloading as many of these for sure and spread the word where I can! = ) *thumbs up*
Awesome! I’m already subscribed. Can’t wait.
I think this really takes the teaching of your experiences to a new level! I’m as big of a fan of your book as I am of your educational series!
Hey, Jason-
I’ve been following your blog for a while now. I’m friends with Jeremy Barlow. A few months back I was complaining to Jeremy how there weren’t any good comic related pod casts. I thought it would be nice to hear an interview podcast conducted by a comic creator. I just think that most interviews with comic creators aren’t very good, but an interview conducted by a comic creator could potentially be a lot better. I was seriously toying with the idea of doing it myself. I know a lot of comic creators. My idea was a little different than yours in that I wanted to do a one on one thing, but still, I kind of feel like your beating me to it. It’s cool though. I probably would have never gotten around to doing it. At any rate, I’m excited about it. And I’m looking forward to listening to more.
