Hey all! It’s been an incredibly busy few weeks here at Coffee Table Comics. Our entire staff has been working around the clock to ship out all the pre-orders and…sorry, I couldn’t help it. It seems like everyone tries to word things to sound like they are a giant corporation when really it’s just a kid in his parents basement. So in reality, my wife and I have been busy at nights trying to pack up as many books as we can before going mad. Here’s a little video to show you the fun.
Yesterday and I was interviewed by the Idaho State Journal because of reMIND. If there is an online version, I’ll definitely link to it when it comes out but if you live in Idaho then pick up a copy and see if I look like a fool. Wondering why I was interviewed by a newspaper in Idaho? Yeah, me too. No, actually, I grew up in Pocatello Idaho and so it’s kinda a big deal there. It’s a big deal to me anyway.
Another super cool thing happened last week. I got my first fan mail! You know mail that comes with a stamp and a hand written note inside. Yeah, it was like that and it made me feel like a total stud. That was super cool!
If you missed the guest post that I put up last Tuesday then please check it out. It’s one of the cutest guest posts yet! Click the thumbnail below to see it.
And here is the beginning of a three part guest comic by Max Miller. Click the thumbnail below to see it. Max told me he meant for this happen between Spread 9 and Spread 10.
I’m sorry to keep posting guest comics for so long. I know people are itching to start seeing Chapter 4 soon and it’s definitely coming along. I just don’t want to start posting anything for Volume 2 until I have a big chunk finished. Until then I’ll just keep the blog active with tutorials, sketches and articles. Thanks again for all the love!

I am so happy for you Jason, it’s amazing to think that this is now a reality.
hasn’t time flown by? :)
I am super proud to be one of your backers and itching to get my hands on my real, tangible, awesome sauce coffee table graphic novel!
Hey Andy! Yeah time has flown and it’s such a good feeling to have volume 1 finished. I should get the rest of the books out this week because I only have about 170 left to pack up and send out. Thanks for being a backer and I hope you enjoy it when you get it.
Thats an awesome video. When do you have time to shoot, edit, write, draw, animate, design, market, publish, distribute and stay sane?
Its obvious there is dark magic at play. I must have the secret to your 40 hr/ a day magic elixr!!! I shall haz this! yeah seriously dude, this is awesome.
Well, I have the time to do all the above except for staying sane. haha! In reality it’s just called staying up till 1:30AM and getting up at 7:30AM. That’s been my schedule for a while now. My wife let me sleep in until 8 this weekend and it was the best father’s day present I could ever have hoped for. :)
Hopefully the Canadian postal strike won’t be too much of an inconvenience. There’s been no mail delivery since the workers got locked out last week, so I expect it’ll be a while ’til I see the fruits of your labour.
Ah, all the sweeter when it does arrive.
Got mine Friday. A total rush. Really professional looking.
It’s here! And it’s BEAUTIFUL! The paper, the colours, the smell.
*sigh* I’m so proud of you .-)
I’ll have to get used to the printed version. Did you choose to have “unsaturated” colours or is it just a result of the transition from screen to paper? Everything seems just a notch colder.
Thanks il Biggo! It’s pretty much exactly like it is on my screen so I’m assuming your monitor is a bit warmer in colors than mine. Or perhaps your books all got printed without the yellow? (most likely not, ha)
I’m glad you like the end result because you have been supporting this for a loooong time. Thanks again!
The yellow is definitely there .-)
You’re probably right about the monitor. I haven’t ever calibrated my MacBook because, well, it looks good to me and frankly it’s too much work for a stupidly glossy LCD (and I’m not doing graphics or anything, I’m not really a colour freak). Greys look grey and whites look white, but it could be that I got used to a reddish tone. Basically, this thing is made for watching kitty pictures.
The PC’s monitor is even less credible. When they wrote “160° viewing angle” on the box they forgot to mention the brightness/contrast/gamma shifts o_O
BTW, in the audio world there’s this rule of listening to your material on the most diverse setups (kitchen player, TV speakers, studio monitors, headphones, surround system) to tune it for the “average” customer. Do you do the same with graphics, watching on different computers, printing on laser and inkjet and so on? Newb question, I know .-D
Oh, and I love the bonus “robot suit pages”. Looking forward to support Volume Two! \O/
Found mine in the ‘Box when I got back from Santa Cruz. Won’t say much until I’ve read the volume in hand but, having flipped through, this is incredibly well designed.
sweet stuff buds!
Got the book and sat down with it cover-to-cover immediately! The art looks even better on paper. And the book itself! I really admired your ambition to create a hard cover comic book of the best quality you could imagine, and wow, you really did it. reMIND is classy. I get satisfaction from just sitting there and holding the book. Christopher Kosek did some stellar book design.
Thanks for all the inspiration.
Seems like YouTube doesn’t like links! X_x;
Anyways I’ll post it here. Btw it’s great to see those fantastic pieces of reMIND fan art and guest comics! It helps to chip in and I’ll throw one in too!
@BrubakerMotion Your most welcome Jason! I just managed to catch up with my friend Jason (yup another Jason) to discuss our itinerary trip to Comic Con – it’ll be a drive from San Fran to San Diego for 3 nights. I can’t wait to spend some time chatting with ya at the table. XD
Also! I managed to finish this off on time! It’s been fun drawing some reMIND! http://elsonwong.deviantart.com/#/d3k213i
Great looking fan art! Thanks for the kind words too! I look forward to meeting you at the con next month too!
Australia reporting arrival of Remind. In great condition and was well packaged.
Already read through the extra pages and changes. Love them.
Dr. Brubaker,
I got my books the other day and was WAY impressed !! The cover ROCKS! The paper quality and feel of the book is enticing.
Spreading the word …
Thank you !!
