It’s the moment I’ve been waiting for. I get to finally announce pre-orders for my book! So instead of gracefully putting my foot in my mouth I’ll just show you a video I made for the opening of pre-orders. You can see it in HD on Youtube HERE or you can just watch it below. Enjoy.
Well, I guess I don’t have to say much else now right? Okay, you twisted my arm. Here are a bunch of pictures of the final book if you are interested. At the moment I only have one official copy but I’ll be getting 6 more next week which will go directly to the Xeric Foundation to fulfill my obligations with them. Once again, thank you to everyone who had anything to do with me getting the grant at the Xeric Foundation. I hope you enjoy your copy of the book.

The last picture might be a surprise. I made a seaweed seal stamp that I can stamp into the front of each book and then another stamp that automatically counts up each time I use it. This way I can have all 2500 copies numbered and I don’t have to write it by hand and remember what number I was on. Hopefully this adds a little more value to the books too.
The lowest numbers are all going to my Kickstarter backers (the first 460 copies) and then I’ll give the next lowest numbers to those of you who pre-order a book on a first come first serve basis. It will probably be over 500 by the time this goes live because my mailing list subscribers were notified before anyone else.
Here are a few of the specs on the book if anyone is interested:
- 152 full color pages
- 2500 print run
- Numbered first printing
- Hardcover board with cloth binding
- offset printing
- 7″ wide x 10.5″ tall
- 4 never before seen pages
- Making Of section
- Pin Up gallery (Sam Kieth, Jon Klassen, Tang Heng and Brett Nienburg)
- Foreword by Jeremy Barlow
- $25 coverprice
If you want to pre-order a copy then click on this banner to be directed to my store page.
Now if you don’t have any money but you want to support this project then please goto my Youtube announcement video above and give it a thumbs up and send it to all your friends on facebook or twitter. I’m doing my best to sell these but nothing compares to word of mouth advertising. This can only do well if you tell others about it. I know many of you have been doing this already and it means so much to me. Thanks for all your support in this long journey. I’ve been eagerly working on book 2 and I can’t wait to show you how screwed up the story gets. Hahah!

Looks awesome, man! I’m definitely going to put my pre-order in – hopefully we’ll be able to connect one day and I’ll get you to personally sign Vol 1 and 2!
And is that your little one at the end of the clip?
Yeah, that’s my son at the end. It was so funny to suddenly have him appear behind the book that I had to include it.
It will be fun to finally meet you face to face and personally thank you for all the great advice early on in the life of this blog.
This looks fantastic, Jason. And I absolutely love the stamp.
Thanks Tom! The stamp is turning out to be a keeper!
I’m so happy I caught the Kickstarter on this ^^ I didn’t know about the Making Of section, can’t wait!!
Thanks Joumana! It’s probably all stuff you’ve read before but it’s nice to have it in the back of the book. Thanks again!
WAUGH I WANT ONE IT LOOKS SO AWWWESOOOOME *SLOBBER* XD
You know what would be great? A youtube video of you putting your foot gracefully in your mouth. I’ve never gotten to see somebody put their foot gracefully in their mouth before. Have you practiced that trick?
It is pretty hard to do it gracefully. I’ll keep practicing.
This is a fantastic quality book, not just the graphic novel, but the design (ahem ahem) and the print and biding quality. Its high production value you don’t see in most graphic novels out there. Great value…get it!!!
The designer is amazing!
I am so proud of you and your accomplishments! One of those lovely books will be sitting on my coffee table (after i read it over and over) asap! Congratulations on your achievements! You are truly an inspiration. You have motivated me to get my own graphic novel off the ground. :)
oh and BTW I look forward to the announcement that you have sold out and have started a second print run!
Thank you! Yeah, I’m looking forward to selling out too. I was hoping to at least less 100 pre-orders here before the books came and it looks like I just cleared that amount this morning. I think the big sales will happen when I’m at conventions and stuff. I’m hoping to sell out by the end of this year.
Nice. On top of a generic ‘CONGRATULATIONS!’ now’s probably a good time to remind you of what a great resource this has become to those of us aspiring toward our own book. The book looks great, the story is catching, and you’ve created a great source of inspiration and a resource I am proud to support.
Thanks, Jason, and congrats!
Thank you! The making graphic novels section has been just as rewarding as the book itself. Two years ago I never thought I’d have a blog like this and I am very happy that it’s been so positive. Thanks for your kind words!
holy crap this looks pretty awesome! think i will totally toss a pre-order down on this (would love to have a numbered copy!).
*ah i see…the website your shipping these through does international shipping???? I love you!
Also…in my fervor to secure a copy…i forgot to say,
CONGRATULATIONS on this completely ridiculously awesome milestone! Like SirCrazlot said above, i totally look forward to hearing about how these all sold out!
Congratulations again my fine sir!
oh and, thank you! thank you! thank you! for having international shipping and a low shipping rate!
My pleasure! I hate it when shipping is more expensive than the product so I tried extra hard to keep the rates economical. Plus, you guys are doing me a favor by just buying a book. Thanks again!
Pre-ordered mine yesterday. So excited! It looks great!
Thanks Angela!
woooo! i’ve been following for a while but never posted before. the book looks amazing and i’ve just secured my pre-order. good luck!
Thank you VERY much!
Why does such a limited number have to be on sale now when I have no money!? :(
Don’t worry, I will keep this available as long as humanly possible through reprints. You will have time later if you really want one. Thanks again!
Fantastic Jason. Looks like it’s going to be one of those rare books that’s a pleasure to just own, let alone read. Congrats
Thanks Aaron! And thanks for all your help on the book!
Very excited about this! Also, I love the video. Very classy. What’s the music you used?
The music is by DJ Jason Brubaker. haha! I just made it in Garageband. Mashed a bunch of free loops together. I’m glad you liked it though because I was wondering if I was the only one who would like the music. Thanks again.
I’ve been waiting for what seems forever to be able to buy a copy (I only missed the kickstarter end date by 1 day) And now I finally can! And did! Now I have to wait for like… forever for it to get here…
Haha! Sorry about all the waiting. I believe it will be worth it!
Ordered and “Liked”
Great work mate. Looking forward to putting a copy on the shelf with Shadowgirls, Inverloch, The Phoenix Requiem, Flipside, Dominic Deegan, Erfworld and The Order of the Stick.
Ahhhh The true webcomic collection! I’ll be proud to be among them. Thanks again for the support!
Forgot to mention “Dreamless” in that collection. And it looks like I can add “Wayfarer’s moon” to that soon (Rhyming unintentional).
That video is so Apple! Great job on the music and the production – is the animation from when you were going to make reMIND a movie? Good to see you managed to find a way to put all that work to good use, I’m amazed that the look stayed so true to that early work throughout the project!
I’m one of the lucky ones who got one of the $100 signed editions w/ the extra painting during the kickstarter campaign – can’t wait to get it! I stopped reading the pages you post a while back because I want to read the end of the story in the book. But I retweeted and facebooked this post, hopefully the word spreads and you sell out in no time!
Thanks Kelly! Haha. I didn’t realize what you meant by “so apple” until I reread your comment just now. I was totally going for an Apple keynote address commercial. haha.
I need to keep going on all those paintings too! Thanks for reminding me.
Yes that animation is the last bit that I animated before pulling the plug on it back then. I think it’s the only scene that still really holds up too. The lizards didn’t have any clothes in the animation and the detail was less but it’s pretty much the exact same scene as in the book. This is one of the only scenes that stayed that true to the animation though.
Thanks again for the support!
Good luck to you with your book sales. I’ll put out the word on a few social networks out there.
Thanks a bunch Max!
How many pre-orders have been put in by now?
I think I just cleared 100. That was my goal too so I’m very pleased!
100 already?
Great work. Alright, the goal is to clear 250 in two weeks. If “Dreamless” could do it on just their collector’s hardback then “ReMind” should have no problem.
C’MON PEOPLE! “LIKE” IT INTO YOUR FACEBOOK! TELL YOUR MATES, ORDER ANOTHER FOR YOUR NEPHEW FOR CHRISTMAS!
VIRAL MARKETING FTW!
Up to 104 just now!
That’s a hard comparison to Dreamless! They had WAY more fans then reMIND and they launched it at conventions didn’t they? Oh man! I better get the word out! I just submitted it to BoingBoing and Scott McClouds blogs. Hopefully one of them posts it. heheh
Thanks again, Charles, for the excellent support!
They did have huge fans. Both Bobby Crosby and Sarah Ellerton’s combined fandom, not to mention Keenspot advertisement.
They had a 250 limited hardback, 250 limited softcover and regular hard and softcover editions. It all went up for sale a little less than two weeks before the convention and the end of the comic. I don’t know how they did on the other editions but they had to take the 250 x Limited hardback off the market a couple of days before so they could keep 30 to sell at the convention… Then they sold out of those at the convention I’m pretty sure.
Jason,
First and foremost, a big congratulations on the production of such a beautiful book, it’s finally out and it’s absolutely fantastic to see all the excitement generated from the fans and as well as your enthusiasm on this project.
Your vision of the book has been crystal clear from day one and I’m really thankful to have been able to study this journey you’ve had as an indy publisher and artist.
With regards to the book, I’m hands down getting a copy but would it be troublesome if you reserve a copy of the book (i.e. anyone of the books prior to the last 2500th seal stamped edition) and get it from you in person at Comic Con 2011? I’m more than happy to pay you right now but I just need your paypal details (if you have one) so that I can send your the funds. I’ll even pay the $30USD instead of $25USD (like as if it was going to be shipped to Australia).
So yeah let me know if you can arrange that, otherwise I’ll get the book the normal way here on this online shop, have it shipped to Australia and I’ll bring the book with me to have it signed at Comic Con 2011. Whichever works best for ya buddy. *thumbs up*
I was thinking of asking the same thing. Are you going to be at Comic Con 2011?
Elson and Roma – I will be at the Comic-Con. That is kinda my official release date and I will be the Small Press section this year under my publishing name Coffee Table Comics. I’ll post more details as the show approaches.
Elson, At this point I have so many books to send out that it might be hard for me to remember things a few months from now. I’m pretty sure that I’ll still have plenty of books during the Comic-Con so I think the best bet would be to just wait to purchase a book from me there. The last thing I want is for someone else to take advantage of your comment and say they were the one who already paid for their book. Maybe I’m just paranoid that way. haha
I don’t see myself selling out anytime before the con though. But, I’ll be sure to blog about how many I have left so you should have plenty of time to buy one if you read I’m running low.
Thanks again for the excellent support in this project! I can’t wait to meet you at the con!
Jason,
That’s actually a good point! And I guess it’ll make my wait even more worthwhile. = )
The only risk is that your books will sell out more faster than you’d expect it to be. I’ll do my best to keep watch and see if you’re getting close to zero stock on books. If that’s the case I’ll make an order prior to my trip to Comic Con 2011. *thumbs up*
Looking forward to catching up with ya at Comic Con 2011!
Had many more sales over the weekend? You should be bordering on 150 by now. Gotta make that 200 by next Monday!
