Gorgeous work. I love the details like the uneven grating on the floor and the red to blue coloring of the shaft in the first page. Great stuff.

Love the perspective in the first panel. Gives one a sense of both openness and constriction (as one continues to look at it). Well done.

    Suspense…!

Beautiful environments, as usual. Your colouring in these underwater scenes is so unearthly, it's magical.

I love the additional jets and twirling of the harpoon on the last panel. Lovely touch.

I was wondering what all that rope/cable on the back of the suit would be good for.

Yes, I was the one having trouble posting before – I guess it was the lousy PC I was trying to use.

Anyhow, little to add to this but to say that this page is really top-notch. The lighting and the atmosphere is really just completely palpable. Lovely, Jason!

Glad the hear the comment system is working ok now. I was really dreading the thought of putting it back the way it was.

Thanks for the compliment too. Looks like you've been really busy on your own stuff which is looking great as well! Talk soon.

Thanks everyone for the encouraging comments! These pages currently unfolding are some of the oldest ideas that I have drawn and sketched and animated for over 10 years now. Haha. It's a relief to finally get them out there and be able to say that they are finished. Not to mention hearing that they are appreciated.

Sorry I haven't been as active with commenting back to everyone. I promise I'm reading what everyone is saying and I am super jazzed that everyone is enjoying it so much. Thanks again for all the love!

how do you choose the color palettes?

It's all about the mood. I have a feeling that I want to convey with colors when I start and so I start blocking in color and adjusting it all over the place until it starts to feel like I want.

Sorry that sounds so vague but it's really true. I have little luck planning a color pallet. This one went through many variations before I found the cool blues and purples that worked. It started out all greens, then went to hot reds blowing up through the vent. Then it I finally found this combination by dialing it around more and staring at it cross eyed forever. I'm honestly surprised that I used purple here, but it works for some reason and still conveys the cool feeling I want.

I'm really just experimenting and learning as I go. Thanks for the comment and question!

But didn’t they live fine before without an “air supply”?

If someone rebels, you cut off his oxygen supply, kinda hard not to obey if you are out of “air supply”.

It looks like the first panel’s saying “the man conduit” instead of “main”. Is it a typo, or just squished together?

Just squashed together. If you right click the image you can open it up full screen if you want. Sorry about how small the text appears online.
