Kickstarter, Pinup’s and Wallpaperson August 23, 2010 at 5:00 am
Well, it’s Monday and I know many of you are expecting a new page but Chapter 3 won’t be starting until next Monday to give myself a little rest as well as enough time to finish the next pages. But don’t worry, there will be plenty to see all week so make sure to check back every day. A few weeks ago I announced a Pin-up contest for reMIND. The winner will get their pin-up printed in the physical book. This whole week I’ll be showing a new pin-up each day and continue to do so until I run out. You still have time to submit yours so please follow the guideline here to see how to enter one into the contest.
My first submission was by Aviv Itzcovitz, who has a great looking webcomic called Stupid Snake. It’s amazing art and very enjoyable to read because it has no words. Haha. Click his banner below to check it out. Here is his reMIND pin-up. I can’t tell you how excited I am to show all of these. There are so many great artist out there! Feel free to leave loving comments for the artists below. Thanks again for the submission Aviv!

Kickstarter is Over! Thank You All!
The last 45 days has been very exciting for me.
I’ve read many articles explaining that 1 to 2 percent of a blogs regular followers will actually spend money if you offer a product for sale. As far as I can tell from Google Analytics, I’m getting about 4,000 people who visit my site a week. That alone is crazy cool, I mean just look at the numbers I was bragging about several months ago. So anyway, I figured when I started Kinckstarter, 1 to 2 percent of my traffic (40 to 80 people) would be willing to shell out some money for my kickstarter campaign. That’s why my minimum goal was only $3,000. In fact with 3k, I would’ve needed to bring a few thousand to the table for promotions and conventions. I was willing to spend some of my own money too.
Well, I was completely wrong. Last night the pledge drive ended with 342 people pledging a total of $12,665. I’ve already sold over 500 books. Talk about some serious motivation to get it finished now. That’s just plain crazy! I love it and I’m very grateful to everyone who pledged and helped spread the word about this project.
I’ll be in contact with everyone who pledged to make sure you are 100% satisfied as well as to collect some information from you. I just hope I don’t take too long to get all the painting finished and books signed and sent. I’m seriously going to have to take off two weeks of work just to get everything packed and sent out when they get printed next year.
In case you’re wondering, I’ve been working almost every night on the final pages and edits trying to get it all done in time. My goal is still to complete a spread every week with about 8 to go and so far it’s been really tight. My main problem is never being satisfied with some of the pages that I already counted as finished. Another problem I keep running into is finding inconsistencies from one panel to another. This has been one of the blessings and curses of posting pages online. I’ve had so many things pointed out and commented about and it’s really proving to be advantageous. It’s a bit annoying to have someone point about a problem with your book, but it’s better now than after it’s printed. I’m sure it will have some problems even then, but I’m committed to ironing as many out as I can find.
Okay, I’m trying something new now. I’ve made a new wallpaper from page 76 with Victuals standing atop the lighthouse gears in the rain. I spent a good amount of time reworking it to be TOTALLY EPIC! It’s big and beautiful and available with any donation amount. I’ve noticed a few other webcomics do this for donations so I figured I’d give it a try. So click the green donate button to the right and I’ll email you the wallpaper.
