I want a shirt that says, “I’ve seen the lizard man” now. :)

    • Jason Brubaker

Really? A black hoodie or long sleeve shirt that says that on the front? I’ll do it if you’re serious!

      • Benjie

Jason, I think you totally should! When or if you’re making enough funds, you should start an online store and create shirts and stuff! I think it would sell well. I’d definitely get a shirt that says “I’ve Seen The Lizard Man!”

        • Jason Brubaker

The store is something I’ve wanted to do for a while but I’m not sure the best way to go about it yet. I need to ask around and see what other webcomics recommend.

As far as the shirt, since 3 people have already said they want one, I guess I better get one made. I’ll talk to my printer and see what the price range would be for something like this. At least it’s a simple and easy design so it wont take me forever to figure it out. haha

You could always go the Cafépress route cafepress.com. Will be where I’m selling my T-shirts when I have got my concentration level to above that of a small goldfish…

Okay, I just started a poll on the left hand side of the page. If I get enough interest then I’ll move forward on this idea. Glad you guys suggested it!

    Momma rat talks!

For some reason, “talking cat in a robot suit” cracks me up .-D
It’s going to be the name of my next song or band. Permission?

  4. Virtureal

    “Pretty lights”

    Love seeing Victual’s mother talk.

I was lucky enough to run into you at SDCC to tell you how much I am enjoying your comic and I just want to tell you again here. I am really looking forward to the graphic novel (or two or three). I must know if Victuals is ever reunited with his lizard lady! :)

Jason, I am so glad I ran into you at SDCC. We met briefly on Thursday in front of the Sarah Ellerton signing at Keenspot. I had no idea this comic of yours was so amazing. I’d like to keep in touch for the future and if you’re interested in splitting a table or a booth at future CA cons, I’m game. It was a pleasure to meet you.

    • Jason Brubaker

Great meeting you too! Your site/comics are great looking! I’ve put my name on the waiting list for a Small Press table next year at SDCC so we will see what happens. I don’t have anything really planned out yet for other conventions but I’ll keep in touch as I move forward. My book should be coming out around June of 2011 so I wont be exhibiting anywhere before that. Thanks for stopping by my site!

If I may venture a mild critique, it seems to me that there are really about four pages of story missing between page 73 and 74. Swallowing up that action and the concomitant passage of time in a voiceover is jarring. There are days of tinkering, first and second tries (perhaps with the suit going wrong the first time), and Sonja convincing Victuals that he really should go back to face “the site of his disgrace.” Not to mention the triumphant reveal, of Victuals wearing the working suit for the first time, making some kind of a revelatory remark like “How do I look?” The visual elements on both ends are so strong that they seem to be bookending a really dramatic scene, but it isn’t there. There’s a real bounty of visual storytelling I can imagine going there that isn’t happening, and it jars the flow of the story events out of the nice, flowing sequence they’ve had so far. Were I you, I’d seriously consider revisiting that – and frankly, it would not mean scrapping anything – the pages 73-74 as they are would frame such a sequence extremely well.

Voiceovers are a hard sell in comics. A lot of times they can break things down more than I would consider appropriate for the medium – I’ve been forcing myself not to use them, lately, for that very reason. It’s the difference between saying “A lot of time passed,” and showing the time passing, with vingettes, fluid page sequences, etc. I think the latter would serve this particular chapter very well.

I definitely agree. “Show, don’t tell.” I was definitely curious as to how the suit would be made to fit Victuals, and I was somewhat disappointed to simply be told that it worked out.

gah! i vant more! Your art is truly amazing. so i’m adding this to my growing list of comic feeds :) not an easy list to get on either.
