Secrets are reveled in this weeks new pages.
Sorry I waited an extra day to post this week. I finished these pages before I finished the final colors of page 64 and it looked like a completely different scene. After looking at it again on Sunday night I realized that it needed a little overhaul to match the mood set earlier.
I have a confession to make before someone points it out. I’m sure there are some Flight fans touring my blog and in Flight #2 there is an awesome story called Monster Slayers by Khang Le. I love Khang Le’s comic work and I totally copied a scene from his story in this page. It’s on page 102 of Flight #2 where one of the main characters is about to die and thinking of a girl. You see what’s in his mind but he tells the other character he doesn’t know what he thinking about. It’s so brilliant that I had to add something like that to this page. Originally I never planned on the first three frames but after seeing Khang Le do it so effectively I had to add something like that.
Only 12 pages left of Chapter 2 and several more questions will be answered so keep coming back for more. I also have a big announcement on Thursday if I can get it ready in time. All the hard core fans of reMIND should definitely check back then to lock in your spot in the history books of reMIND!

This is a really lovely sequence. I believe I saw earlier sketches/color workouts of this one with a much cooler palette, and I think that going with the warm, slightly washed sepia look was a good choice – the previous pages were kind of low-register and cool, and this makes a very nice contrast that points up the big reveal on the facing page.
By the way, I have no problem with taking cues on layout and composition from comics that work. I rely heavily on a number of comics that I consider "playbooks" for style (Katsuhiro Otomo, Masamune Shirow, Will Eisner, Chester Gould). Essentially, considering how many discrete drawings have been done in "Comics" since the outset, I think that pretty much everything has been done, and it's merely a matter of doing the old in a new way. Now, granted, there's a fine line between drawing on a source and copying it outright – remember the flap over Bleach, for example. But when something works, it works. It's why people have been structuring stories based on Shakespeare or the Iliad pretty much as long as we've had Western Civilization.
Anyhow, brilliant sequence!

Yeah it really is just doing the same things over and over. It's funny, when I looked at the Flight book again I was sure I copied it closer than I did. It's still pretty close by not as close as I remember it.
The Bleach/Incarnate thing was pretty crazy how heated the fans got. If I made a habit out of this on every page then I might be a little more worried. But yeah, it's a totally different boat.
And to be more specific, since I brought it up, the flap was over Nick Simmons' alleged plagiarism of Tite Kubo's Bleach in his series Incarnate. I believe the latter has since been pulled as a result of the controversy.

Holy Kelp!
I'm trying to make that a new slang word on the streets.
Ha
I love the fantasy-robo-techno (make a note that I coined that term right here and now) stuff that I saw on your DA gallery (I think) and was looking forward to seeing more of it , I can't wait to see the suit in action. If Victuals wears it he'll be a lizard inside a cat inside a robot, like one of those Russian nesting dolls… ooooh, major merchandising opportunity. (I would totally get one of those!)
You might get your wish of seeing it in action sooner than you think. Literally too. Tomorrow I'm going to have some major spoilers (if you choose to see them) of the early animation of reMIND along with some big announcements.
I like the fantasy-robo-techno-Russian-nesting-dolls term!
Robo-Matryoshkas!
Count me in on one of those!
