It’s the 4th of July holiday here is the U.S., and a three day weekend for me, so I’m using this as an excuse to post the new pages tomorrow (Tuesday) so I can do some more relaxing. Honestly, I’ve been staying up till around 1 A.M. in the morning working my next plan of attack which I’ll announce on Thursday. I’m sorry to say that I won’t be posting a new coloring tutorial this week because of it but hopefully next week we can continue where we left off.
To keep you occupied until the new pages go up tomorrow, here is one of the things I’ve been working on that will be part of Thursday’s announcement. It’s a mock up of what I think would be the ultimate hard bound cover design for the book. I’m not sure if this is even possible at the moment but I figured I’d show it anyway. It’s a cloth binding with black silkscreen and then a 4 color printed image on the right side. From what I’ve been told, the registration of the two techniques might make this design nearly impossible to pull off with much accuracy but a guy can dream, right?
There are a few artistic problems still with the picture that I’ve been meaning to address like the tangents where Sonja’s hair meets the palm tree. Some day I’ll work this drawing a bit more.
Check back tomorrow for the new pages with a big reveal. See you then.

I like it. It's worth seeing if it's possible
Amazing Cover! The design has great balance and movement.
I think, though, that adding a little orange-red hues to the foreground might bring out the white of the cat and the girl'sskin. Like what you did with the REMIND t-shirts. I thought the orange was very effective.
Anyway, thanks for this glimpse of the probable future.
I really like that idea of adding a bit of orange to this. I'll keep it in mind when I work on it a bit more.
Clever what you've done with the spine of the book.
I love you for making a hardbound! Hardbounds looks a lot more beautiful on any bookshelf than paperbound!
Love it! I really hope something like this happens, but I understand the registration difficulties.
Wow, it’s sad that it’s logistically unsound, because that is a fabulous cover!
Hardcover all the way! Looks sweet. Wish I could add it to my graphic novel collection.
that's one helluva package. here's hoping that some distant stars align themselves to let you get this done without breaking the bank, sir.
The cover looks great – and don't let printers tell you what can be done with your work. You tell them how you want it done and let them figure out how to make it happen. YOU are the client – if they don't want to accommodate, tell them you'll go elsewhere. I'm sure the reps won't like that and figure something out for you.
Hehe, I suppose that if it's not feasible to have the alignment done automatically (silk screen and cover art), you could always draw the rest of Victuals face on the spine there.
On every single copy. By hand. With a sharpie.
Sounds like fun! I'll come help. =)
Or I could make a stamp and stamp it on myself. You could still come help!
I know a great place to get stamps made!! Though, as a requisite, you can only go there in the middle of the night.
Denny’s?
Kinko's!
