rereading the comic whilst procrastinating before exams it strikes me that victuals' arm feels a bit "off" in the panel where he's holding himself,
i'll explain, basically the bendy arm is in contrast with your normal way of drawing his arms (or most things generally) as straight with cornered edges (as opposed to the round edged elbow used here)
Yeah, you are right. It's something I like to do every now and then. For me, the continuity is not as important as getting across a mood or emotion or conveying something for that specific instance.
You might notice his hands/paws change a lot to aid what he is doing in each moment. Perhaps it's lazy, but I really just like to be free to do what the image needs is all.
Wow I just read through everything from seeing your guest comic on Axe Cop. Amazing stuff, beautiful art, great story line. I'm anticipating the rest of it. Thank you!
Well, here I go again. Just found this – link from TWC, thanks! – and now I'm hooked. I missed the pimp from The Meek – another of the comics I read regularly – and I just read from spread 1 to here. The art is lovely and no matter what you say about the writing, it's keeping me interested. And to echo an earlier comment, thanks for keeping it free! What size page do you foresee when you go to print? I find manga size a bit small – 'course, at my advanced age, I'm likely near blind lol – but the Gunnerkrigg Court books are very nice. My $0.02. thanks!
I haven't seen the Gunnerkrigg Court books but I just started reading his comic and I like it a lot. I plan on printing it bigger than Manga books, around the size of normal superhero American comics so hopefully it will be plenty easy to read.
I appreciate you saying the writing is good too. Thanks for the comment!
It's great as always, but the "No, I mean" feels kind of awkward, like it isn't suppose to be there. I don't know if I'm missing something or if it's just me, I just felt compelled to point it out. It's just those three words. But otherwise it's awesome! I love the atmosphere.
Victuals is going to have to learn a lot more about this world above ground. It's probably as weird to him as we'd find his world. From the sound of it, his society interacted with a lot less animals (and they don't have pets).
Love the lighting in the last panel!
And no grammar/spelling errors that I could see. :D
It's pages like these that I like the best. IT gives it a more realistic view of a lifelike setting I really dig these two pages a lot.
:)
trav
Oh god, I can totally see this being animated :3
I loled when he looked down at himself to check what he was.
Poor victuals.

just a thought

I see what you're saying–the bendy arm really does help communicate his emotion.

There's a direct address comma missing from "Your move, Victuals"
Now I'm, uh, what did you call this again?
Is it bad that I was looking at the board and trying to work out would make a good move[1]?
[1] I'm an inexperienced amateur but I'm still teaching my other half how to play.
Haha, Glad I at least put the right pieces on the right colored squares.

Very true.
