So first off, I want to welcome all the new viewers from Sarah Ellerton’s The Phoenix Requiem. She is so nice to give me a link on the front page of her site. It’s more than I could have ever asked for and I am super grateful! It’s exciting to see all the new visitors and comments. I’ve noticed a bunch of new notes to address on older pages with typos. I assure you I’ll get to ‘em soon but for now I have a SUPER RED crab to blind you with. Only because I had several people interested in seeing it.

So here is the final version, first, so you can see the difference easily.

And here is the SUPER RED version that almost made the cut. I’m sure there is a group who likes this one better than what I chose. When the book is printed, you can print out the SUPER RED version and tape it over the page if you want.

And because I still like it strangely enough for unknown reasons, I’ll throw in the old version of the left page. There was a middle version where I tried to implement the crab into this version but it looked awful so I just threw it out. It’s better if it’s not seen anyway.

In addition to next weeks new pages, I’ll post a sweet interview with Trent Kaniuga, the creator behindĀ CreeD. We started a Google document just talking about the creative process of making comics and graphic novels. I’m sure you’ll like it if your interested in behind the scenes stuff. I’m just waiting to get some cool new art from Trent to top it all off. See you Monday!

Haa, the SUPER RED version is great. Thanks for sharing. :D

But, yeah. The one you ended up with looks a lot better. Since the colors are mostly subdued, the SUPER RED sticks out like a sore thumb… which, coincidentally, may be that very same color.

That is certainly SUPER RED. Final version is great, though. Nice and ominous.

Yello. Came over here from Phoenix Requiem. Have to say, Love your art style. I’m a big fan of manga and graphic novels. Can’t wait till yours comes out in hardcover, I’m truly in-love with the style. Storyline is very intriguing too.
Oh – and I prefer the non-super red version. Keeps eyeballs intact.

I think the super red crab really defines his presence. And the contrast works really well in the area with both of them standing together. Of course your ‘final’ version is good and it is just as easy to tell what is going on in the ‘shot’. Super red is just a little bit more obvious and distinct.

I love the SUPER RED version! Thanks for posting it! :) I’d never tape it over your final decision though. Besides with back lighting, there’s going to be some extreme cast shadow. I can just imagine for myself that his local color is the super red. Oh and your final staging on the left page is so much more dramatic than the original. Love it!

super red crab is…. super red.

Yeah, I got linked here some time ago, just when Victuals had gained some of his interesting traits. Lost the link but thanks to Sarah you are found again ;P

Love the style you’ve chosen for this work. Absolutely beautiful.

Thanks all! I knew some of you would like the SUPER RED. If this book wasn’t so washed out it might fit rather nicely. Maybe my next graphic novel can toy with more colors.
