Hello, I was just wondering, why is he secretive about his visits if they are engaged? Is it some sort of custom that they are arranged to be married but can’t see each other much before that?
It's the king's only daughter and he's very protective of her. He lost his wife years ago so he's over the top protective now. Plus I suppose there could be an ancient formal lizard custom involved.
I think you mean "We were soon engaged, by order of the king." The way you have it, it sounds like the king gave them a task to be busy (engaged) with.

I know some mammal families that have a custom that fathers don't want boys hanging around their daughters without supervision. Especially not in the daughters' bedrooms.

Hmmm. I never really thought about what she was wearing. It's just a normal female lizard woman outfit I suppose.
I guess it's woven kelp and other underwater plants. She's pretty poor so this is her normal attire.
