I'm not a super expert so you might want to call them directly and see. I'm pretty sure they can do it all though. I just don't know all the technical stuff.

hello what about the domain controls in Bluehost? I also had many domains in godaddy and quiet happy with the controls like Cname, A records etc. Are you able to set and manage these in Bluehost?
Sincerely,
Emre

Hey - Thanks for this article! I found it very helpful. I'm not a artist but I'm writing and producing my own book and the promotion part is putting me in the wringer. I decided to hit Blogger for now and will eventually migrate to Wordpress as I get it up and running but I need a really cost effective web solution for it.

generally wordpress is a superior platform for CMS systems. the learning curve is small, and the rewards great. Extensibility is paramount! Staying simple and using out of the box themes with the desired functionality included can get you pretty far.

However as Web developers we chose to custom build our themes and create unique call functions for WP. This versatility to code for it or stay within the box is what makes it great.

As for Hosts I recently did an exercise in profiling the bests hosts for a high traffic client using Joomla, and Wordpress. Bluehost was definitely on my list, but lacked some advanced capacity.

In the end I choose Greengeeks simply because of how high they scored on Customer service, and versatility in their hosting platform. the 300% green thing was a bonus also.

It depends on your goals, but I think overall wordpress is superior because of its versatility.

I heard bluehost is terrible with wordpress. Bluehost is similar to hostmonster in the cpu throttling department. They failed to handle my wordpress sites and I had to transfer to a different server. Feels bad man.

I am in the same boat (talking about limited free time projects). I jump around doing various things that I feel need to be done before I can continue being creative on my projects. This website was definitely one of them consuming about 2 weeks before I was satisfied and could move on.

I'm glad the info was handy though. Bluehost was introduced to my by a friend who has many websites that are pretty sophisticated so I trusted him to take the plunge.

Until recently I avoided normal web hosts because of bad experiences with them and have been using iweb with Mac. Mainly because it was so simple to use. I still use it for my main site but my only problem with it is only being able to access my website through the computer that .me is attached to. It was also impossible for me to edit templates or set up a good portfolio like I wanted. Now that I think of it there are quite a few things that I don't like about it. ha. Talk about going off subject. Anyway, I appreciate you and Kelly's comments!

What Kelly's not mentioning is that both he and I work for [insert monolithic software giant here], so we're not entirely newbies when it comes to that long list of alphabet soup you mention in your post. Still, even for the "annointed" this is great info — I love messing about with website design sometimes, and I can, but that drains away another hour or three of the limited time I'm willing to spend doing my creative or hobby stuff. So less value for the reader.

Also, I totally agree that finding a low-hassle domain or hosting provider is well worth an extra dollar or two; consider the extra money spent on anti-spam and anti-hassle measures. Don't fear that you're pimping a solution — I for one appreciate a good lead.
